Peer Mentoring

Many mothers and fathers who are suffering or have suffered from perinatal mental ill health report that the support of other parents who have also lived through the experience of postnatal depression or birth related PTSd is valuable to them.

Similarly, adults who are experiencing PTSd due to a different cause, for example through active or former military service, may feel that the only person able to understand what they are going through is someone who has lived experienced of being in the armed forces.

The opportunity to volunteer as a Counselling Connect peer mentor is available to anyone who feels recovered enough or able to provide such support to another parent or adult who feels this would be useful to their ongoing recovery. Facilitated skill building workshops are run as part of our framework to support volunteers, as well as regular debriefing sessions.

Please let us know if you would be interested in becoming a peer mentor.
