The Virtual BIPOC Peer-Support Self-care Oasis group is a Peer Support Group for women and femme identifying as BIPOC (Black Indigenous People of Colour) living with mental health challenges and looking for a place to share and discuss experiences, explore new tools together in a safe environment as a way of empowering and supporting each other. Come join a group of BIPOC individuals in a safe environment! BIPOC mental health matters! BIPOC matters! Take a 2-hour break from your busy schedule to nourish your self once per week! Your mental health matters! You matter! This group will be offered online via Zoom by CWCLN. Individuals will be able to join using the video and/or the phone functions. The facilitators are trained peer-supporters. Important: You are not required to be on camera during the group nor to share, except for the first few minutes so that we can confirm you are indeed part of the BIPOC community.

A 10 week skill based group on living after trauma. Participants will learn about the impact of trauma and build skills for healing and growth. Topics will include how to recognize thoughts and feelings, accept positive experiences and learn to live in the present.

Family Spiral is a 2-evening education program for family members, friends and support persons who are concerned about someone experiencing problematic substance use, behavioural addiction or a related mental health issue. Family Spiral is an introduction to Rideauwood’s family and parent counselling services. Participants learn about addiction and how it affects families, while connecting with others who are experiencing concerns and challenges similar to their own.

Acu-Detox auricular acupuncture is used to support mental health and substance use recovery. Disposable needles are inserted into five acupuncture points on the ears while participants sit silently in a circle for 30 minutes. This practice is intended to create a peaceful quiet space for healing. It is intended to be used as an adjunct to counseling, education, medical support and support groups. This is a specialized peer Support Group for young caregivers. Topics discussed range from young caregiver issues such as the challenges of multiple responsibilities, such as paid employment, parenting and family relationships, to general caregiving for a person living with dementia.
